Hey readers, anyone feeling a little nostalgic today?
I finally gave the new Car Seat Headrest album a go and it made me go back to the early 2000s…but we’ll get to that in a minute, we’ve got some really exciting news to share first!
So Jess Thristan announced this week not only the release date of her new single, “No Romeo”, which is out on 23 September, but also a UK TOUR!! to support it.
Tickets are on sale and you can check if she’s coming to a town near you and grab tickets on her website. For more info and news, you can keep up-to-date by following Jess on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
On another note, a new Metal Gear Solid game was announced (Survive) and the trailer features Eivør and Lucas Vidal‘s cover of Blind Faith‘s “Can’t Find My Way Home” which you can check out right here:
Back to the early 2000s subject…that new Car Seat album took me right back to the time when all these indie bands named anything starting with “The” were exploding. I don’t know if it was just because that’s when I got into them, or maybe the Napster revolution helped them get on the music map and reach audiences further afield or whether all those The OC Mix albums had anything to do with it, but at least in my mind it feels like that was the heyday of that particular chilled, at times wrist-sliting indie rock. So here’s a playlist with that “2000s” sound.
(Fine, Sleater-Kinney is a lot more 90s but hey, you can hear their influence on all those early 2000s bands…they count!)
Hope y’all have a great weekend!
